What happens if my vehicle fails inspection?
Answer- You will receive an itemized list of what failed and have 30 days or 1000 miles to make the repairs. Only the items that failed need be re inspected as long as it is within the 30 day 1000 mile period.
Since I paid for an Inspection, Do I have to pay to get the vehicle re inspected?
Answer- This depends on what failed. The state of Md. determines what if any the re inspection fee is. In any case, when a charge applies , it is prorated depending on what actually needs to be re inspected
Who can get a waiver for Md. State inspection, I mean who doesn’t need an Md. State Inspection?

My vehicle failed for window tinting. What do I do now?
Answer- You have the option of having add on window tinting checked at the local MVA. The Frederick office is open Monday and Wednesday mornings from 8:30 Am to 10:00 Am. The Hagerstown MVA is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 to 9:30 Am. The phone number for MVA is 410-768-7388.
What are the criteria for window tinting?
Answer-
- Passenger Vehicles : All Windows
- Windshield: Top 5 Inches or AS1 Line, whichever is less
- Trucks/Suv’s: Windows Adjacent to the driver
- Windshield: Top 5 Inches or AS1 Line, whichever is less
- Tint must measure above 35%
- Tint cannot be reflective, Red, Yellow or Amber in color
- Window Stickers: 7 Inch square lower corner of the windshield/side windows to rear of driver not to obstruct clear view
